MUSLIM (ISLAMIC CULTURAL) TOUR
During this special day tour we visit the best historical and contemporary Islamic sites on Lombok, providing you with a comprehensive insight into the history, life, culture and traditions of Lombok's original inhabitants, the Sasak people. We begin our tour at Makam Batu Layar, which is revered in West Lombok. Here we will see ancestral graves and the final resting place of one of Lombok’s holiest men, Sayid Duhri Al Haddad Al Hadrami, a noted Islamic missionary. From here, we drive up the beautiful coastal road enjoying spectacular views of the north-western beaches and Gili Trawangan, Meno and Air, then head inland through the jungle and forest scenery of Pusuk Pass and stop on the way in the Monkey Forest. Our next stop is at Karang Bayan to see the 300 year old Masjid Wetu Telu mosque and an old wooden house in this ancient Sasak village. Just a short distance away is Lingsar temple, which is possibly the only place in the world, where Hindus and Moslems come together to pray and celebrate. It is one of the 3 temples built by the Balinese Prince Anak Agung, in 1714. Driving through Lombok’s capital city, Mataram we will see Lombok's new Islamic Center – its construction began in 2011 and on completion, it will be the highest building on the island.
